It was in October 2017 that Cissi Wallin wrote via her Instagram account that she was raped by Fredrik Virtanen. Wallin had just over 50,000 followers at that time, a figure that is almost twice as large today. Fredrik Virtanen is not convicted of rape.
- Is there a sufficiently general public interest for these tasks that freedom of expression should weigh heavier than protection of privacy ?, says Ängla Eklund.
The Swedish Metoo movement has so far resulted in at least three cases of serious slander where well-known men in culture and media Sweden have reported women who have accused them of rape in two cases and sexual abuse in one case.
- In previous meto-cases, people have chosen to judge for gross indecency with regard to this type of serious accusations, says Ängla Eklund.
