SFI announced the initiative this spring and its aim is to increase gender equality and the diversity of stories in Swedish film.

This is after SFI's latest gender equality report showed that only 30 percent of screenwriters in Swedish film are women and that the proportion decreases the larger the budget the films have.

"The ten selected projects have a breadth and variety in terms of creators, ideas and genres but in common is the choice of a female storyteller's perspective," says Magdalena Jangard, director of the production support unit at the Film Institute, according to a press release.

The screenwriters are Therese Bringholm and Nisti Stêrk, Cristina Gottfridsson and Agneta Fagerström-Olsson, Sofie Forsman and Tove Forsman, Sara Heldt, Maria Karlsson, Ida Kjellin, Malin Marmgren, Carin Pollak, Petra Revenue and Dunja Vujovic.
