Next-generation space transport ship "HTV-X" Considering launch in two rounds October 31 18:33

About the new unmanned space transport ship, “HTV-X” that Japan is developing, JAXA = Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency will launch the transport ship twice and dock it in outer space when going to the moon. We have clarified that we are considering a method to use as a transport ship.

"HTV-X" was developed by JAXA with the aim of starting operation in FY2021, as a successor to the Japanese unmanned space transport ship "Kototori", which delivers goods to the International Space Station. We will also carry supplies to the "Gateway" space station that orbits the planned moon.

When JAXA delivers goods to the new space station that orbits the moon, the HAX-X will use the H3 launch vehicle being developed to load parts, and to supply and move power. It was clarified that we are considering a method of launching the part where the equipment is mounted separately, docking it in outer space and using it as a space transport ship.

However, if two launches are required, the launch cost may double, and it is expected that there will be discussion in terms of costs.

JAXA will launch a technology demonstration machine for “HTV-X” in FY2021, and plan to transport goods to “Gateway” after 2025.
