In a bizarre incident, about 50 ducks and geese are on trial for disturbing neighbors in Soston, southwest France.

Dominique Dutt, 67, the owner of the birds, appeared in court after neighbors filed a lawsuit because they were disturbed by the sound of birds, but the hearing was adjourned until October 1.

The dispute began about a year ago when the neighbor bought his property and came to complain about the noise of birds twice a week.

The complainant's neighbor said her husband had met the nanny three times and had recruited an acoustic expert who recommended relocating birds or building a wall.

Several issues related to the sources of rural noise, ringing bells or chirping frogs are provoking considerable controversy in the French countryside.
