Although the star's songs have been played billions of times, "Spotify has neither reported the figures for Eight Mile nor paid Eight Mile for the streams, but instead made random payments for only a fraction of them," according to the lawsuit.
Eight Mile also accuses Spotify of fitting Eminem's song "Lose Yourself" into a category for songs whose copyright owners are unknown. The mood calls it absurd that Spotify couldn't know who owns one of history's most famous songs.
Spotify has not yet commented on the matter.
