WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Actor Richard Gere visited on Friday 121 migrants stranded a week ago aboard the rescue ship "Open Arms" in the Mediterranean, which European countries refuse to receive.

He expressed his "unequivocal support for the cause of these migrants through a sign carried by the boat that arrived on board that reads: 'You're not alone'"

As the famous media representative said, "Please support us here at Open Arms and help these people our brothers and sisters."

He distributed water and other supplies to immigrants and listened to their demands.
