Al-Ahly Chairman Mahmoud Al-Khatib held a meeting with Al-Ahly captain Hossam Ashour, following the major crisis that occurred between the player and his club following the club's request for the player to retire after the end of the season because of the team coach’s unwillingness to be present next season.

The Planning Committee had met with the player and informed him that the coach did not want to be with the team next season, which caused a problem for the player who went out to state afterwards that Al-Ahly sold him and did not appreciate what he provided for him.

The former vice president of the Football Association, Ahmed Schubert, revealed the details of the new deal that club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib persuaded the player to end the crisis and not leave the player to his club.

Ahmed Shuber said in a tweet on his official account on the social networking site Tottier: “The results of Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib’s meeting with Hussam Ashour organizing a retirement match worthy of his name and history. Ashour’s appointment in a respectable management position in Al-Ahly Club is a regular appearance on Al-Ahly channel.”
