The captain of the English team, Harry Kane , will undergo an operation to treat a tendon rupture in his left thigh , so he will be on leave until April, Tottenham announced Thursday in a statement. "Following the evaluation of our medical team last week, we can confirm that Harry Kane needs surgery to repair the tendon tear in his left thigh," the entity announced.
"The decision to operate is not expected to influence the deadline that the England captain will be off, with the expectation that he will return to training in April," the club added. The scorer, who has scored 27 points in 31 appearances with his club and his team this season, was injured on January 1, in the 1-0 loss to Southampton .
Tottenham, which led the way in November after the arrival of José Mourinho on the bench, replacing Mauricio Pochettino, is sixth, four points behind Chelsea (4th). This weekend challenges the unbeaten leader Liverpool. Kane, 26, will miss, among other duels, the Champions League round of 16 against Leipzig .
