Bundesliga: thanks to Harry Kane, Bayern Munich returns to victory

Bayern Munich can breathe.

After falling against Leverkusen two weeks ago in the league (3-0), beaten by Lazio (1-0) in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League ten days ago, then surprised by Bochum in start of the week (3-2), Thomas Tuchel's players finally obtained a victory this Saturday, February 24 against Leipzig (2-1).

Harry Kane opened the scoring with a heavy strike and scored his 26th goal of the season in the Bundesliga (56th).

If Benjamin Sesko equalized fifteen minutes later (70th), Harry Kane doubled the lead to score the winning goal in stoppage time (90th+1).

Kane had the winning ball ten minutes from the end of the match, on a cross from Joshua Kimmich cleverly deflected by Goretzka, but the captain of the English selection was unable to get his header on target.

After 23 days, Kane has 27 goals and can still hope to improve on the record season of Pole Robert Lewandowski, who scored 41 goals during the 2020/21 season.

Tuchel asked his players to free themselves

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel saw his initial contract until June 30, 2025 reduced by one year to June 30, 2024 this week. Tuchel also spent part of the meeting on a metal suitcase placed in the center of his trainer area, sometimes sitting on it, sometimes standing.

The Bavarian technician had asked his players to be released with his personal situation clarified, and this release came as often this season from Harry Kane, under the eyes of English coach Gareth Southgate.

But Bayern is far from being cured.

Symbol of a team in full doubt, Leroy Sané missed almost everything he did in the first period on his right wing, like an action perfectly carried out by Jamal Musiala that he did not know take advantage of.

Next week, Bayern travel to Freiburg before hosting Lazio on March 5 to reverse the trend in the Champions League.
