The incident occurred during the afternoon in the area of Loftahammar, just north of Västervik.
"The two men were out fishing in a boat when they were allegedly shot at by the older man. He stood on land and fired, and the shots hit the water right next to the boat, says Peter Adlersson, spokesman for the police.
Weapons seized
According to police, the suspect has no relation to the two men in the boat. He was arrested at the scene and police have seized weapons in connection with a search of his home.
"Right now we are questioning the two men and will of course also hear the suspect. We will also conduct a crime scene investigation. The measures can hopefully provide clarity as to why this has happened," says Peter Adlersson.
