The chief doctor of the Hérault fire brigade was placed in police custody as part of an investigation for "facts that could be qualified as sexual assault" and suspended as a precaution, the Departmental Service said on Wednesday. Fire and Rescue (Sdis).

“The person concerned is the subject of an order suspending his duties as a precaution, the time of the legal proceedings, as is customary in this type of case”, specified in a press release the Sdis de l 'Herault.

"The departmental authorities, if the facts are proven, will be of the greatest firmness, even if at this stage the Sdis-34 remains attached to the principle of the presumption of innocence", continues the text.

Victims in his professional entourage

The victims, at least two, would be people from his professional entourage.

"Disposed to zero tolerance on behavior incompatible with the exercise of our missions, the president (of the department) Kléber Mesquida, and the general controller (of the firefighters) Eric Flores bring their support to potential victims", also indicates the press release from Sdis.

Asked by AFP, the Montpellier prosecutor's office did not respond immediately.
