The Chiba District Court sentenced a 3-year-old former police inspector of the Chiba Prefectural Police Headquarters who was accused of sneaking into a house and sexually assaulting three women and voyeurizing another woman at a train station and other places, to 46 years in prison, saying that "the pain suffered by the victim was immeasurable and vicious."

Makoto Okada, 46, a former inspector at the Chiba Prefectural Police Headquarters, was arrested last August while serving as an assistant chief of the Investigation Section 4, which investigates gangster cases, and was arrested while taking a voyeur at a train station, and was found to have been suspected of repeated sexual assault in the past, and was charged with three sexual assault cases and three voyeurism cases.

In his ruling on May 27, Chiba District Court Chief Judge Shinobu Shinagawa pointed out that "the pain suffered by the victims is immeasurable due to the selfish and vicious crime to satisfy their own distorted desires."

On top of that, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison on the grounds that "the impact on society is great for a current police officer who is expected to comply with the law and commits a serious crime."

Okada appeared in court wearing a black suit, a white mask and black-rimmed glasses, and stood in front of the witness stand and listened straight ahead.
