The defending champion Olympique Lyonnais did an excellent job by winning 1-0 against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday in the quarter-final first leg of the Women's Champions League.

The Lyonnaises, who eliminated the Parisiennes in the semifinals of the previous edition (1-0), scored from the penalty spot, transformed by their captain Wendie Renard (86th).

The Parisiennes of coach Olivier Echouafni won 1-0 in the league on November 20 during the last confrontation between the two flagship teams of French women's football.

PSG dominated quite clearly in the first period but never managed to find the opening.

Then Jean-Luc Vasseur's team gained momentum and the match was balanced.

This finally changed when the Parisian captain Irene Paredes cleared the ball on an arm of her teammate Formiga: penalty, transformed while mastery by Renard, who had already scored the qualifying goal against Paris in the semi-final of the C1 last August in Bilbao.

The return match will take place next Thursday in Lyon.
