The administration of the city of Wausau, state of Wisconsin, has abolished the 57-year ban on playing by throwing snowballs. Public officials posted a video in which they themselves violate the ban by throwing snowballs at police officers.

The ban was introduced in 1962 as officials believed that throwing snowballs was equivalent to throwing stones. Heavy fines were imposed for offenders, the article of the local administrative code was rarely challenged once a year.
