According to Opec statistics, Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world of more than 300 billion barrels. In the current production, however, the South American country has dropped back to 16th place after just five years of crisis at just 1.1 million barrels a day. The current escalation of the power struggle between the socialist government and the opposition supported by the West is likely to further paralyze the country.
