Showmaster Florian Silbereisen is new "dream ship" captain on ZDF and thus successor to Sascha Hehn. "This role is a matter of the heart for me," said the 37-year-old moderator of the "Bild" newspaper. The "dream ship" has earned a captain who lives this role also and fully behind the series stand. A captain who wants to maneuver the ship through all the storms, said Silbereisen. "For that I will give everything, my whole passion."
Hehn had said goodbye to the broadcast on New Year's episode after 13 trips as Captain Victor Burger. "Unfortunately, the series has lost its charm in the last two years," said Hehn at the time.
Starting in April, the new, regular "dream ship" episodes will be shot. The trips of the "Amadea" for the two episodes, which are to be broadcasted Christmas 2019 and on New Year's Day 2020, are already clear: Colombia and the Caribbean are to be controlled according to ZDF. For an Easter special episode, the actor Daniel Morgenroth takes over the wheel. He is to represent the captain of the MS "Amadea" as First Officer Martin Grimm.
Silbereisen now said in an interview with the "Bild" newspaper that the "dream ship" was "an institution, an integral part of millions of people who enjoy these films". It was a great honor for him to be allowed to steer the "dream ship" as captain in the future. He wants to try to "combine show and series, big stars and surprising stories". Silbereisen already had a guest appearance on the show. He is now the youngest captain in the history of the television series.
"The Dream Ship" has developed into a TV classic since its launch in November 1981. Before Silbereisen and Hehn, Günter König, Heinz Weiss and Siegfried Rauch were captains on the bridge.
