A father in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has abandoned his nine-year-old daughter - because she did not want to fall asleep. With this action, they wanted to show their daughter, "how well she has it at home," said the parents to police officers. A caller had notified the police on Sunday night after the child had asked him for help.
The parents said that they had quarreled with the child, because this did not want to fall asleep. Then the father and his daughter got into the car and drove with her from Stralsund in the direction Altefähr. On the way he let her get out and drove so far that his daughter could not see the car anymore.
After a while he returned but could not find his daughter anymore. Together with the mother of the child, he then went back to search. Meanwhile, according to the police, the parents met the policemen who had taken care of the nine-year-olds.
Criminal charges were filed against the father. The child was returned to the care of the mother after consultation with the youth authority.
