In Moscow, a five-year-old girl was found alone in an apartment full of garbage. The news agency Ria Novosti showed a video of the dwelling whose floor is completely covered with rubbish. According to the TV station Ren TV, the police found it difficult to gain access to the garbage mountains.
Neighbors complained of cries and weeping in the apartment and alarmed the police. According to the officials, the girl is severely malnourished, a necklace is said to be fused with the skin on her neck, Ria Novosti reported. The child was not age-appropriate and hardly able to communicate, it said.
The mother was arrested for attempted murder and interrogated by the police. She is said to have locked her child up for several days in the apartment where there was no water or electricity.
According to initial investigations, the 47-year-old is a single parent. She told the police she was forced to leave her child alone when she was working or running errands. Because of debts and unpaid bills, she had the apartment sell and temporarily want to move to a friend.
