Within 20 years, several men allegedly committed at least 14 robberies on money transports in the Ruhr, the Bergisch Land and the Rhineland. Another raid had already been prepared, it said in the process before the Hagen district court.

In the raids, the perpetrators were armed with machine guns, which earned them the name Kalashnikov or Panzerfaust gang. Their total profit was several million euros.

The district court Hagen has now imposed some high prison sentences against the members of the gang. The two main perpetrators must be in prison for 13, 13 and 9 months, respectively. The judges ordered the subsequent placement in preventive detention.

A 55-year-old founding member of the gang of thieves was also sentenced to 13 years and nine months in prison, a 61-year-old even to 14 years. Two other defendants have been jailed for just under three and seven years and six months. Only the two-year prison sentence of a man classified as a runaway was suspended.
