First, an unknown person with the outside mirror of his car an emergency paramedic in emergency action, then he had dropped out and have berated the rescue force: So describe police and Johanniter an incident in Lower Saxony Langenhagen on Wednesday. Now the investigators are looking for the driver.

The 34-year-old paramedic and a colleague parked their vehicle in a parking bay and set the hazard warning lights, says Sylke Heun, spokeswoman for the Johanniter Niedersachsen Mitte. However, the ambulance was so wide that he had managed a bit into the street. Nevertheless, according to the rescuer, "there was enough space to be able to pass the ambulance carefully at walking pace".

According to Heun, the two emergency services were about to load the patient into the vehicle when the VW Tiguan drove by: "The driver was probably traveling faster and touched the paramedic on the right elbow," says Heun. Thereafter, the driver was still a short drive on, but then stopped, had gotten out and faced the paramedic. The stranger asked the rescuer, "What are you doing?" The police press release states that he and his co-driver complained "about the reckless behavior of the paramedics".

Unknown seemed to be disturbed by emergency intervention

This resulted in a shorter conversation, something escalated, says Heun. Her colleague can no longer reproduce the exact course. However, he said that he behaved "properly and as usual". Finally, the driver demanded to call the police.

According to the paramedic, the man "was evidently in a hurry and was disturbed by this operation," says Heun. Since the emergency services were already waiting for the ambulance, the paramedic said: "Yes, then call the police, this is in my sense." The stranger had calmed down a bit, got in his car and drove away.

So far, the driver has not been identified, says the Langenhagen police spokesman Patrick Götze. But assume that you can find the man. The paramedics had noted plate and reported, it was said by the Knights of St. John. Against the unknown is determined according to police on suspicion of traffic accident escape.

The care of the patient was not affected or delayed by the incident, says Heun. The woman was therefore taken to the nearest hospital.

The paramedic was slightly injured. A doctor had diagnosed a bruise on his elbow. "It's not the problem for him at all that he was easily hit, that can happen," says Heun. However, it is about how the driver responded.

Incidents like this are unusual, says Heun. Yet it happens again and again that emergency services are perceived as disturbing and verbally addressed: "There is more and the tone is getting worse." However, the Johanniter would not charge for this. Only recently had a man caused a stir, driving away an ambulance to be able to park. (Read more about violence against rescue teams here and here).
