The Dutch police are looking for the owner of a lion cubs. A passerby found the animal in a cage on a field near Utrecht.

The local police reported the unusual find on their Facebook page. "It looks healthy and not malnourished," said one official. The little lion is quarantined and need a lot of rest.

Originally, the approximately four months old lion cub should be stunned for removal. "The cage was not very robust, the boy could have escaped," said a veterinarian. But an injection proved unnecessary. A team of three was able to lift the cat and its cage into a car, which was then taken to a protection station in Anna Paulowna, a town in the north-west of the Netherlands.

According to Dutch media reports, a jogger had discovered the animal near the village of Tienhoven. The police are now looking for the owners of the lion cubs. She called possible witnesses to report with clues.
