"I served the GDR out of political conviction": Heinz Engelhardt, born in 1944 in Angerapp (East Prussia), was a member of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) from 1962 to 1990. After the fall of the wall, he should first build up the GDR constitution protection - in January 1990 then the last Stasi general got the task to dissolve the MfS.
