Chris Brown has quite some experience with coming into conflict with the law: He has often been to court, was already in prison.

Now the 29-year-old is again in conflict with the judiciary. This time, however, it is not about assault or domestic violence. But a monkey. In Los Angeles, Brown has now been charged with violating regulations governing possession of exotic animals.

Brown should therefore have no permission to own a capuchin monkey. The authorities on Instagram noticed that he apparently owned such an animal: In January, the artist had posted a photo of his three-year-old daughter - and the child cuddled in the picture with a monkey. Officers specialized in wild animals confiscated the animal a little later.

As reported, among other things, the "Los Angeles Times", Brown is said to have owned the Capuchin monkeys between 31 October 2017 and 3 January 2018. The animal therefore bears the name "Fiji". The animal now lives in a protective facility.

Brown is scheduled to face trial early next year: a hearing was scheduled for 6 February; in the worst case, Brown is threatened with six months imprisonment and a fine, according to merger reports.

Chris Brown: Accused of a pet

Brown is considered a choleric, but in the past he came into conflict with the law mainly because of acts of violence. In 2009, a court sentenced him to social services and imprisonment for assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna. The probation was revoked in 2014 because he violated conditions.
