The half-marathon in the Welsh capital of Cardiff, two runners on the finish line with heart problems collapsed on Sunday and died shortly thereafter in the hospital. "This is a terrible tragedy for the families," said Matt Newman, organizer of Run 4 Wales. All participants were "devastated".

Almost 25,000 people took part in the race. According to Newman, this is the first time in the 15-year history of the event that there has been a death.

The two runners collapsed on the finish line and were taken to the University Hospital of Cardiff after a first treatment by paramedics, it says in the statement of the organizers. There, the two died a little later. According to the Guardian, there are two people aged 25 and 32 years.
