A motorist has hit and injured a firefighter during a mission in Lennestadt in the Olpe district. As the fire brigade Lennestadt announced, the driver deliberately drove the firefighter over the foot on Friday evening, in order to pass the employment place despite prohibition.

The fire brigade had blocked the passage in front of the house during a firefighting operation because of a chimney fire in the district of Grevenbrück. According to the press office of the district police Olpe the firefighter pointed the driver through the open side window on the blockage, after which there was a battle of words. The driver, who lives in another district, therefore did not want to see that he should not use the way, drove the fireman standing sideways at the front of the car over the foot and left the employment place.

Drivers license confiscated

The firefighter was slightly injured. Police officers who were at the scene of the fire department, the car driver, a 36-year-old Lennestädter, went to him and confiscated his driver's license. Criminal proceedings were instituted against him.

"That one can pull through something like that, is incomprehensible," says Karsten Grobbel, press officer of the fire department Lennestadt, on request of SPIEGEL. "If it burns at home, then he does not want that a helper is driven over his foot."
