The fire department in Munich has released a kitten from the engine compartment of a car - after the animal had traveled more than 160 kilometers through Bavaria.

The owners of the car alarmed the rescuers, according to the fire department on Sunday afternoon, because they heard meow, but could not find the animal. Forces then discovered the baby cat behind a bumper panel and loosened it to free the kitten.

The owners of the car were according to their own information previously in Passau. The cat had probably climbed behind the bumper there. She had a broken leg and was taken to a shelter for treatment.
