While playing, a ten-year-old boy in Schleswig-Holstein was killed by a straw ball weighing at least 500 kilograms. For some unknown reason, the bales of straw in a barn in Armstedt in the district of Segeberg had come off a cradle on late Sunday afternoon and hit the boy. That is what the police said.
Helpers lifted the at least half a ton of straw bales with a tractor from the boy. Subsequently, he was revived, but later died in a hospital of his serious injuries.
How it came to the accident is still unclear. The police are investigating.
