Hongweiba Station is located deep in the Qinling Mountains and on the bank of the Jialing River. It is a fourth-class station on the Baocheng Railway Line. It was built in 1956 and is located at the junction of Matiwan Town and Baishuijiang Town, Lueyang County, Shaanxi Province. It is affiliated to the Xi'an Railway Bureau It is under the jurisdiction of Hanzhong Vehicle Service Section.

The station is very small, with only 3 tracks and 6 cadres and workers, but its role is very important.

It handles the passage of more than 60 trains on a daily basis, and is also responsible for the tasks of train transfer, reservation and settlement.

Sun Wei, 50 years old, is the webmaster of Hongweiba Station and an old employee of Baocheng Line.

After retiring from the army in 1996, he started working as a switchman at Niejiawan, Baishuijiang, Gaotanzi, Lueyang and other stations on the Baocheng Line. He has been a switchman for 28 years.

The 2024 Spring Festival Transport will be Sun Wei’s 28th Spring Festival Transport on the job.

In addition to being responsible for station safety management on a daily basis, he is also responsible for the anti-slip inspection of reserved cars at the station and the inspection of closed nets.

Along the platform, Sun Wei checked the vehicle slippage prevention conditions of all 41 open cars in the two lanes while walking.

In March, Hongweiba Station, hidden in the Qinling Grand Canyon, has beautiful mountains and clear waters and pleasant scenery.

Although the scenery is beautiful, traveling is extremely inconvenient.

Within a radius of 4 kilometers, there is no human habitation. The nearest village to the station is at the end of the cave in the direction of Baishui River. The other one has to cross an iron cable bridge, cross a road, and climb several hills to reach it.

At the northern end of the platform, there are 232 lush orange saplings.

According to reports, it was the "Youth Forest" planted last year during the renovation of the open space in the station area, mobilizing off-duty workers and young people from Baocheng League members along the Baocheng line. It aims to convey that everyone is rooted in Baocheng and the mountainous area, and uses the forest to make clear their aspirations and carry forward "not afraid of hardship, The Baocheng spirit of “not admitting defeat and not being ambiguous”.

The station area is less than 1,000 meters long from south to north, and it takes about 30 minutes to walk there and back.

At both ends of the station are two deep caves and endless peaks. The train goes from one cave to the other in less than 2 minutes.

Soon, he walked to the end of the platform, carefully implemented the "one stop, two looks, three passes", crossed the line to the last stop car in lane 2, and inspected the anti-skid iron shoes and manual brakes placed at the angle between the wheel tread and the rail. Motor fasteners, anti-slip sleepers, etc. should be carefully inspected.

"It starts to light up later and gets dark earlier in the mountains, and the day is as quiet as a paradise." On the platform, Sun Wei said to the construction workers, "Recently, the skylights have been repaired, and the first rail change in the station has just been completed. Come and check the signaling equipment. Liven up the station.”

At about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the sky was getting dark and the skylight repair work was almost completed.

Sun Wei returned to the console to test whether the equipment was back to normal, and debited the relevant ledgers according to regulations.
