Raphaël Quenard is the cinema revelation of 2023. Unknown until a year ago, the 32-year-old actor caused a sensation in “Yannick” by Quentin Dupieux and “Dog of the Scrapyard” by Jean-Baptiste Durand, two films noticed by the Academy of Caesar.

Nominated in three categories this year, Raphaël Quenard could well win on Friday February 23 at the Olympia.

But what do we really know about the rising star of the 7th art?

We tell you everything!

An azure blue gaze, a small earring, and inimitable phrasing... In just one year, Raphaël Quenard has conquered the heart of French cinema.

The actor, unknown to the general public until a year ago, has won no less than 3 nominations for the 2024 César Awards: best male revelation for

Dog from the Junkyard

by Jean-Baptiste Durand, best documentary short film for

The Actor, or the surprising virtue of incomprehension

which he co-directed with Hugo David, and best actor for

Yannick

 by Quentin Dupieux.

Amateur footballer, soldier and parliamentary assistant

After several years of playing supporting roles, Raphaël Quenard, 32, finally finds himself in the spotlight.

A meteoric rise for which he, a chemistry student from Grenoble, had not prepared himself.

Becoming an actor was not obvious for the young Raphaël who tried everything: amateur footballer, soldier, chemist and even parliamentary assistant for a few months to Bernadette Laclais, MP for the fourth constituency of Savoie.

Even today, Raphaël Quenard has difficulty realizing what is happening to him.

And his family too!

The actor's parents have no connection with French cinema.

His father was a researcher in insulation materials and his mother worked in an insurance company.

In his interviews, Raphaël Quenard is full of praise for them.

“My parents are exceptional because they passed on to us the value of work, the importance of working hard,” he recently confided to

Madame Figaro.

Very close to his mother, the actor spends as much time as possible with her: "I draw nourishment from my friends, from places, from my mother".

On the heart side, Raphaël Quenard prefers to remain discreet.

In October 2023, he was seen with a pretty brunette in the stands of a football match between PSG and Racing Club de Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes.

Is this stranger his companion?

Mystery...
