Also in the news: In the Democratic Republic of Congo, clashes continue in the east of the country. They pit national armed forces supported by local militias against M23 rebels supported by Rwanda. These clashes are causing new displacements, worsening an already very precarious humanitarian situation. The government and the humanitarian community have jointly launched an appeal for the mobilization of 2.6 billion dollars to finance the humanitarian response plan for the year 2024.

Finally, the Los Angeles Pan-African Film Festival has just closed the doors for its 32nd edition. Every year, during Black History Month in the United States, it's an opportunity to discover fiction and documentaries that touch on Africa and black communities. In this year's selection, a documentary on the history of Abubakari II, a Malian emperor who set out to conquer the Atlantic 200 years before Christopher Columbus.
