The Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa has died at the age of 88 due to heart failure, as reported this Friday by the Japanese public broadcaster NHK.

He conducted the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the Boston Symphony, throughout a long career.

Ozawa, one of the most important Japanese figures in classical music, died on the 6th at his residence in Tokyo.
