It has been revealed that when a subsidiary of Japan Airlines, which provides in-flight meals, conducted an in-house test for driving within the restricted area of Haneda Airport, employees who took the test were allowed to view the documents. These actions violate national regulations, and Japan Airlines commented, ``We apologize for causing an incident that undermines trust and safety.''

The fraud was revealed at JAL Royal Catering, which provides in-flight meals for Japan Airlines' international flights at Haneda and Narita airports.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, when an in-house test for driving a car was conducted within the restricted area of Haneda Airport last month, employees who took the test were allowed to view documents in violation of national safety management regulations. about it.

At the time, two employees took the exam, and another employee served as the proctor, telling the company that ``the examinees asked if they could look at the reference materials, and we agreed.''

The fraud was revealed after an outside party provided information to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

This test covered rules for driving on runways and aprons, including speed limits and what to do when approaching an aircraft.

Of the two employees who took the exam, one passed and the other failed, but the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism ruled that they both failed because cheating was discovered.

Up until now, the test has been conducted at airports around the country, but starting last year, it has become possible for each company to conduct the test by applying to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and appointing a test proctor.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism commented, ``We will take strict action against fraud as it should never happen,'' and will consider measures to prevent it from happening again.

Japan Airlines, the parent company of JAL Royal Catering, said, ``We apologize for causing an incident that undermines trust and safety. We will continue to strengthen our company-wide compliance system to prevent incidents like this from happening again.'' ” commented.
