According to him, the region has “super difficult” weather.

“If the weather in the European territory of Russia is very cold until the end of this week, then there, in Siberia, the temperature will thaw. And that’s why the weather is the most difficult there. Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo regions, Altai Territory. There the temperature will be about 0 °C. Precipitation in all forms, in the form of rain, snow and sleet, and increased wind up to 20-25 m/s,” Vilfand said.

He noted that this combination of weather conditions poses a great danger.

“With dry crystalline snow and wind, there will naturally be drifts on the roads and poor visibility. And difficulties not only for ground transport, but also for air transport. And in the case of rain or sleet, wet snow sticks to wires and trees, as well as the danger of a power line break,” the forecaster explained.

Earlier, leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, Mikhail Leus, spoke about record snowdrifts in Moscow.
