A snowboarder from Germany died in a collision in the Tyrolean ski resort of Nauders. As the Austrian police announced, the 64-year-old man from Essen collided with a 16-year-old skier from Denmark on a slope the day before and was fatally injured.

A witness to the accident tried in vain to revive the man. The young skier was flown to a hospital with injuries, it was said. The police did not provide any information about the type or severity of the young winter sports athlete's injuries. The authorities ordered an autopsy on the dead man.
