``Yonezawa Kyo'' was held in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, where a calligrapher writes calligraphy using fallen white snow as a large piece of paper.

The person who performed "Let's perform on the snow" was Fusen Fukuda, a calligrapher from Shizuoka Prefecture.

The venue, a garden in Yonezawa City, had a space about 10 meters long and 15 meters wide made of hardened snow, and Mr. Fukuda held a large brush weighing 40 kg in his arms and prepared to wield it. I tried.

Then, moving the brush vigorously, he wrote the word ``Shin'' on the pure white snow.

We also wrote the words ``Never give up'' to express our feelings for the victims of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, which caused extensive damage and are currently undergoing recovery and reconstruction. I added the word ``power'' to complete the character ``power to live.''

Approximately 200 spectators gathered at the venue and watched the spirited performance.

A fourth grade elementary school boy from Kyoto Prefecture who wrote calligraphy with Mr. Fukuda said, ``It feels like a dream to be able to write together. It was my first time writing on snow, and it felt good and fun.'' .

Mr. Fukuda said, ``There was an earthquake on the Noto Peninsula on New Year's Day, and I think the people of Noto are really holding on. I want to send my wishes to them for their best efforts.''
