Osterhofen: Fire brigade forces are trying to put out a fire

A 90-year-old resident died in a building fire in Osterhofen, Lower Bavaria. Another resident was seriously injured in the fire in the Deggendorf district on Saturday afternoon, the police said.

An attic fire was initially reported, but when the police arrived the house was fully ablaze. Firefighters took the 90-year-old out of the multi-story townhouse. However, despite attempted resuscitation, she died on site, it was said.

A 44-year-old resident got out of the house on his own and was then taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to police, there were no other people in the building.

The extinguishing work continued on Saturday evening. According to the information, the cause of the fire is still unclear. The police have started an investigation.
