The Hokuriku Shinkansen currently operates between Tokyo Station and Kanazawa Station, and a new 115-kilometer section connecting Kanazawa Station and Tsuruga Station in Fukui Prefecture is scheduled to open on March 16th this year.



In preparation for the opening, JR West applied for a final inspection of railway facilities such as tracks and signals last November, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has been conducting inspections based on the law to confirm safety.



As a result of the inspection, safety was confirmed, and on the 26th, Shigeki Murata, Director-General of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Railway Bureau, handed over a certificate of approval to JR West President Kazuaki Hasegawa, allowing the line to operate.



According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the facilities subject to inspection have not suffered any damage from the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred this month, and JR West has said that it will not affect its opening schedule on March 16th.
