It has been learned that Todoroki Keikoku Park in Setagaya Ward, which is popular as the only valley in Tokyo's 23 wards, is closed to large areas due to felling work due to deteriorating trees.

According to Setagaya Ward, the cutting and other work is expected to take several years, and it is unclear when the park will be open for walking again.

Todoroki Valley Park in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo is a valley created by river erosion at the southern end of the Musashino Plateau, and has a promenade approximately 1 km long, making it popular not only with locals but also with tourists. .

However, in July of last year, a fallen tree about 20 meters long was found on the promenade in the park, and the ward investigated approximately 700 trees and found that over 50 of them were suffering from "oak withering" and measures such as cutting them down. That means it's now necessary.

The ward has prohibited entry to a large area of the park and is proceeding with the felling work, but it is expected that it will take several years to complete the work, as there are many steep slopes and inclines.

The ward has been receiving a number of inquiries from tourists and others about reopening, and Takashi Kishimoto, head of the Parks and Greenery Division, said, ``It is expected that it will take several years, including the entire process, to lift the ban on entry.'' I would like to create an environment where they can enjoy it.''
