The defendant, Koichi Iwamoto (58), a superintendent of police at the Chugoku-Shikoku District Police Academy, was charged with sexually assaulting women in their teens and 20s whom he met through a dating app. He was arrested again on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s.

The trial that began on the 25th at the Hiroshima District Court alleges that in September last year, at a hotel in Naka Ward, Hiroshima, a woman in her 20s was threatened with telling her relatives and workplace that she was engaged in prostitution. A trial was held on charges of sexual assault, saying things like "we're going to fight each other," and charges of coercing her into writing a document, saying it was a "disposal letter."

Regarding the charges heard on the 25th, Superintendent Iwamoto denied the charges, saying, ``I went to a hotel with the woman, but we did not have sex, and although I had her write a termination letter, I did not force her to do so.'' and pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors said in their opening statement, ``He contacted the victim, whom he met through an app, at a hotel on the condition that she pay him 40,000 yen, showed her the uniform he was wearing under his jersey, and threatened her by saying, ``Actually, I'm a police officer and I'm cracking down on prostitution.'' He handed her a piece of paper and a ballpoint pen, and forced her to write, ``I'm now a father.''

The next court hearing is scheduled for March 6th.
