Two New Yorkers decided about a week ago to sue Madonna after, according to them, she started her concert at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn on December 13 last year far too late.

The concert was one of three at the arena.

The tickets said the gig would start at 20:30 but the pop icon didn't appear on stage until shortly after 22:30.

The fans also believed that she planned to step out later than promised, which they call "a reckless display of false marketing".

They also accuse her of breach of contract and complain that their journey home was more expensive than expected as they were "confronted with limited public transport" so late in the day.

Madonna: We will defend ourselves

Until now, the lawsuit has been uncommented by the artist, but in a statement, Madonna and the organizer Live nation announce that they will "defend themselves vigorously".

"The shows at Barclays in Brooklyn started as planned, with the exception of December 13 when we had technical problems during sound check," they write.

“This caused a delay which was reported on time.

We will defend ourselves vigorously in this case”.

Been sued by fans before

Madonna has encountered similar outraged fans before.

In 2019, she was sued after starting a gig in Miami, Florida, four hours late.

The suit was later dropped.
