The musician Anders Sandberg, best known as the singer in the Swedish country group Rednex, has died suddenly on Tuesday.

That's what Norrbottens-Kuriren writes.

Internationally, he went by the stage name "Dagger".

He was 55 years old.

Anders Sandberg was born in Kiruna in 1968. He started his musical career as a singer in a hard rock band before joining Rednex in 2001.

However, the group had their big breakthrough in 1994 with the single "Cotton Eye Joe".

The other members of the group now express their grief.

"Our Rednex family will never be the same.

You will be so missed, our legend.

This is one of the saddest days in our history.

Dagger, we love you," they write on their official Facebook page.
