Error screen on RTL+: A cliffhanger leads to a crash

The broadcaster RTL wants to better equip its streaming service RTL+ for a mass rush in the future.

“We are working intensively to ensure that an outage like this does not happen again,” said a station spokeswoman.

Towards the end of the reality show "I'm a Star - Get Me Out of Here!" on Sunday evening, the RTL+ servers were unavailable for a long time, the reason was apparently the hype surrounding the departure of model Cora Schumacher.

"Due to an extremely high level of simultaneous usage of RTL+, caused by Cora Schumacher's spontaneous move out, several systems were overloaded yesterday around 8:55 p.m. despite all preparations," the broadcaster said.

RTL+ was available again on televisions after a 20-minute disruption.

But: "On the web browsers as well as on the iOS and Android apps, the disruption depended on various factors and therefore varied greatly in duration."

“Zero stars for us today”

Because of a sports broadcast, the jungle camp broadcast only lasted 40 minutes on Sunday.

Afterwards there should have been a talk on the streaming platform.

The moderation duo of the jungle camp follow-up show “The Hour After,” Olivia Jones and Angela Finger-Erben, apologized on Instagram for the streaming problems: “Zero stars for us today.”

Access to RTL+ is now possible again, the broadcaster said.

"We are very sorry that many fans of 'I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here' and the NFL were only able to stream the corresponding programs late and some were not able to stream them at all."

The shortened jungle camp program was seen by 4.1 million viewers on linear television, a market share of 13.3 percent.

The simultaneous “Tatort” on ARD had an audience of 8.39 million.

In the target group of 14 to 49 year olds, RTL was ahead with 1.89 million younger jungle camp viewers.

With the switch to American football at 8:55 p.m., the number of viewers in the advertising-relevant target group halved to 0.89 million.
