María José Sanz, the most powerful Spaniard in climate change science: "We are going in the right direction but not fast enough"

From the Tokyo Protocol to the Dubai Agreement, this Valencian biologist has spent 25 years negotiating climate treaties and preparing scientific reports for the IPCC, the UN group of experts.

In July, she became the second Spaniard to form part of the IPCC Board, a task that she combines with the direction of the Basque Center for Climate Change (BC3).
