In the Comoros, the day after the first round of the presidential election, several incidents were reported on Monday on the islands of Anjouan, a stronghold of the opposition, and Mohéli. The election, which pits outgoing President Azali Assoumani against five other candidates, has been criticised by the opposition, which denounces shortcomings in the conduct of the election.
