"A professional actor must, through his or her profession, demonstrate competence to portray different character characters." This is the new, and debated, regulatory framework for this year's Guldbagge Awards. Among the nominees there are only "professional" actors, which you are considered to be if you have more than one role in the luggage.

"The decision is about not being able to win for debutants," explains Fredrik Sahlin, film critic and continues:

"I understand that many trained actors think it's annoying that amateurs come and snatch the ram in front of them, but this is the wrong way to go.

Some debutants who have been praised for their acting efforts are Granit Rushiti for "I am Zlatan" and Sofia Kappel for "Pleasure".

Nominations

Do you think it's the right people and films that have been nominated?

–No. 2023's best Swedish film "Paradise is Burning" has far too few nominations. Three. The biggest miss is that Mika Gustafson didn't get a nomination for Best Director.

Will the prices end up right?

"There are no obvious winners this year. No Ruben Östlund or Roy Andersson, but I think "Hammarskjöld" and "The Scapegoat" get the most. And of course I hope that "Paradise is Burning" wins Best Picture.
