Protesting farmers:

"Get out, get away, get away."

Monday afternoon in Berlin: Angry farmers receive Finance Minister Lindner.

Christian Lindner, Federal Minister of Finance:

"I hear you, and it's an impressive picture. Thousands of farmers ... Mr. Rukwied, Mr. Rukwied, all is well."

Only after reassuring words from the president of the German Farmers' Union, Joachim Rukwied ...

Joachim Rukwied, President of the German Farmers' Association

"You deserve respect to listen to him."

... Lindner was able to speak at the rally in front of the Brandenburg Gate – and almost had to scream to make himself heard.

Christian Lindner, Federal Minister of Finance:

"We are in a phase in which we have to talk to each other again about the tasks of this state."

Farmers have been protesting nationwide for a week against the planned end of agricultural diesel subsidies. Lindner expressed understanding, but he did not make any new concessions and referred to necessary savings.

Christian Lindner, Federal Minister of Finance:

"Everyone has to do their part. I cannot promise you more state aid from the federal budget today. But we can fight together to give you more freedom and more confidence in your work. And that would be an opportunity in this situation that should not be turned down."

With the large demonstration in Berlin, the protest actions of the farmers end for the time being. Agricultural representatives have also been invited to a meeting with the heads of the government parliamentary groups in the Bundestag today.
