The Golden Globes 2024 gala is going to be very interesting this year and is going to experience a real duel to be the winner of the night. Two films will compete for the title, the film starring Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig's Barbie, with nine options for awards, and Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', which has eight nominations. The ceremony, which will take place from Los Angeles, California, on January 7, will be hosted by comedian and actor Jo Koy.

But the eyes of Spanish cinema are on 'The Snow Society', by Juan Antonio Bayona, which will try to win the award for Best Foreign Language Film. It also allows him to get closer to Pedro Almodóvar, who already has two winning films to his name, 'Talk to Her' in 2003 and 'All About My Mother' in 2000. Alejandro Amenábar won the award in 2005 with 'The Sea Inside'.

The other films competing for the award in this category are the French film 'Anatomy of a Fall'; Finland's 'Fallen Leaves'; Italy's 'Yo capitan'; the American 'Past Lives' and the American-British-Polish 'The Area of Interest'.

This year, the awards added two new categories, film achievement and box office achievement in films, for which films such as "Barbie" and "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" will compete, and best stand-up comedy performance on television, with shows by Amy Schumer, Chris Rock and Ricky Gervais among the nominees.

Amanda Seyfried, Will Ferrell, Michelle Yeoh and Angela Bassett are among the actors who will present the awards at the 81st Golden Globes, the organization said Wednesday in a statement.

The first list of presenters is completed by 'Suits' actors Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams, as well as comedian George Lopez, 'Ozark' actress Julia Garner and 'This Is Us' actor Justin Hartley.

The last Golden Globes ceremony of 2023 marked the return of these awards to television after the non-televised event of 2022, amid controversy over the lack of African-American representation among members of the now-defunct Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which owned the awards before selling them at the beginning of the year.
