At a tourist facility in Higashiizu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, the annual year-end work was carried out to remove the dirt of the year by rubbing the back of a crocodile with a brush.

At the Atagawa Banana Crocodile Garden, a tourist facility in Higashiizu Town, 15 crocodiles of 100 species are bred and exhibited, and every year at the end of the year, the back of the crocodiles is rubbed with a brush to remove dirt.

On the 26th, 3 people, including employees in charge of breeding, began the work of removing dirt using brushes while pouring water on the crocodiles at the pond where large Siamese crocodiles and Mississippi crocodiles with a body length of 13 meters were exhibited.

The crocodile's back was covered with a lot of year-old dirt such as sphagnum moss and mud, and the employees were scrubbing the crocodile's head and tail with a brush.

Around the pond, tourists such as parents and children came from the morning to see the rare crocodile cleaning, and they watched with interest.

A boy visiting from Ibaraki Prefecture said, "The crocodile was quiet and cute."

Hiroki Sugawara, the zoo's animal management manager, said, "I think the gentle crocodiles will be able to welcome the New Year comfortably when they are clean."
