Regarding overdoses and overdoses of over-the-counter drugs, which have become a serious problem among young people, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Takemi said that he would consider revising the law to prevent abuse and that pharmacies and other organizations should confirm the names and ages of cold medicines and other drugs when selling them to young people.

In response to a series of cases in which young people are transported to emergency hospitals due to overdoses of overdoses on over-the-counter medicines such as cold medicines and cough medicines, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's study group on the 18th compiled a proposal for a sales system to prevent abuse, such as prohibiting the sale of multiple boxes to people under the age of 20.

Regarding this, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Takemi said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, "We take it as a serious problem, and the report of the study group contains content that requires revision of the law, such as the prohibition of multiple sales, so we will deliberate on it."

In addition, he said, "We will definitely proceed with regulations that can be implemented under the current legal system," and expressed his intention to require pharmacies and drugstores to comply with current rules, such as verifying names and ages when selling cold medicines to young people under high school age.
