An F-16 fighter jet of the US Armed Forces in South Korea has crashed during a training flight over the sea between the Korean Peninsula and China. The pilot was able to save himself with the ejection seat, the U.S. Armed Forces announced on Monday.

He was pulled out of the Yellow Sea by the South Korean navy and is in stable condition, it said. According to the information, the plane had taken off from the US air base in Gunsan in the morning before an emergency occurred during the flight. The cause of the accident is being investigated. The U.S. has 28,500 troops stationed in South Korea.

At the end of November, a US military aircraft of the type Osprey crashed into the sea off the coast of Japan. All eight people on board were killed in the accident.
